We have now made it through 36 weeks of 8th grade math. We only have three days of studying next week followed by the final left this school year. Make sure that you are doing everything that you can to earn the grade that you want.  Here is this year's final extra credit:

Wednesday 5/28

Today we learned how to calculate the volume of hemispheres with Notes #74.

We then combined all of our knowledge of volume to tackle some interesting and challenging combination problems. Be sure to pay special attention to these kinds of problems to prepare yourself for this week's test.

Today we learned how to find the volume of cones with Notes #72.

We conducted an experiment with a cone, a cylinder, and some rice to derive the formula. The missing piece is now practicing the skill thoroughly until you're proficient.

We continued working on our volume skills for prisms and cylinders today. We also took a look at proportional volume today with Notes #71.

Wednesday 5/14

Today we applied the Pythagorean Theorem to solve the Taco Cartproblem, a three act play from Dan Meyer's excellent website.

Notes #69 consisted of copying the details from that website and calculating the time each would take to reach the cart. Be sure to have it all detailed and ready for the notes quiz on Friday.
